Office writing boards include wall-mounted glass boards, mobile whiteboards, magnetic writing boards and multifunctional boards that combine writing, pinning and storage. Wall-mounted boards provide a permanent presentation surface, while mobile systems can move between meeting, training and collaboration areas. The right type depends on the room, frequency of use and need for reconfiguration.
A wall-mounted writing board is suitable for rooms with a fixed meeting or teaching layout and does not occupy floor space. A mobile board is better for flexible offices where teams need to move the writing surface or use it as a temporary visual divider. When choosing a mobile model, consider its footprint, caster locks, storage position and route between rooms.
A glass writing board offers a smooth, modern-looking surface that is generally easy to wipe clean and resistant to staining when used correctly. Traditional whiteboards may be lighter and more economical but can vary in resistance to ghosting and wear. Buyers should compare writing performance, mounting requirements, safety specifications and the expected frequency of use.
No. Magnetic performance depends on whether a suitable metal backing or magnetic layer is included behind the glass. Even magnetic glass boards may require stronger magnets than ordinary steel whiteboards because of the glass thickness. Buyers should confirm magnetic capability and the recommended magnet type for the specific model before ordering.
Use markers approved for the specified writing surface. Dry-erase markers are generally used on standard whiteboards and compatible glass boards, while permanent markers can be difficult to remove. Test unfamiliar markers on a small area first, and avoid sharp tools or abrasive cleaners that may damage the writing surface.
Erase writing regularly rather than leaving it on the board for extended periods. Use clean erasers or soft cloths and a cleaning product recommended for the surface. Marker residue, dust and oils can build up over time, so the board should receive periodic deeper cleaning. Avoid household chemicals unless the manufacturer confirms that they are compatible.
A glass board may display a projected image, but reflections and glare can reduce visibility depending on the glass finish, projector position and room lighting. It should not automatically be treated as a dedicated projection screen. If projection is an important requirement, test the proposed combination or select a surface specifically designed for both writing and projection.
Confirm the board dimensions and weight, wall construction, fixing points and the presence of concealed electrical cables or pipes. The mounting height should suit the intended users and leave clearance from doors, screens, switches and furniture. Glass boards require careful handling and fixings suitable for both the product weight and the supporting wall.
A mobile board should have a stable base and suitable casters, preferably with locks for use during writing. Before moving it, remove unsecured accessories and check that the route is clear of thresholds, cables and narrow turns. Users should push the frame or designated handle rather than pulling on the writing panel itself.
Provide the required quantity, preferred dimensions, wall-mounted or mobile configuration, writing-surface type, magnetic or pinboard requirements, frame color and delivery destination. For wall-mounted products, include the wall material and installation height. For project orders, floor plans or wall elevations help M&W confirm product placement, fixing requirements, packaging and installation needs.
